Boy...talk about a long break from blogging!
Sleep wise, this has been one long weekend for us. Josiah has been giving us a really hard time when bedtime rolls around. This has been going on for a while but we are usually able to get him down in our bed and then transfer him to his crib. Not so much anymore. Friday night Rich put Joey in his crib thinking he was still asleep but no such luck! Josiah immediately stood up and started screaming and throwing himself around. He managed to bump his chin and cut the inside of his mouth. We both panicked at the sight of his bleeding mouth thinking a tooth was loose. Luckily, it was just a bruised chin and a cut to the inside of his lip from his tooth. Not pretty but he was okay...
Unfortunately, that's not where this ends. Sunday night I had the pleasure of putting him down. This time he was awake but I thought I'd place him in his crib and let him cry it out. As soon as I turned my back to walk out I heard a loud THUMP! I turned back around to see Josiah lying on the floor next to my feet. He managed to flip himself out of his crib! I was crying, Josiah was crying, it was chaos! Once we calmed down we checked him out and he was fine. I think he scared himself more than anything. So, at 9:30 Sunday night Rich and I were lowering his crib to the lowest level. I truly don;t know what we'll do once he grows another inch or so. I think he'll still be too young to convert his crib to the toddler bed. Bedtime will really be a chore!

Parade of Lights
This past Friday night we went to the Louisville's annual parade of lights. My mom picked up Josiah from daycare and we met some friends at the Waterloo Restaurant. The Restaurant is right on Main street where the parade was being held and they got a table in the front. It was perfect! We had dinner and when we were done we walked out the front door and had a front row seat for the parade.
Josiah had his big coat, gloves and a blankie. It was a chilly but he stayed warm! We waited outside for about 15 minutes before the parade actually started. I was a little nervous that he'd be restless sitting in his stroller that long but he did great. All of the towns firetrucks led the parade down Main Street. It was loud and there were sirens and flashing lights. Josiah watched in amazement. He was a bit tired so he stayed pretty mellow throughout. It got pretty cold toward the end of the parade but there was only about 10 minutes left so we toughed it out. I didn't want Joey to Miss Santa. I know he has no idea who Santa is, but what kind of Mom would I be if he missed SANTA!?!?!
All in all a great time was had! Joey talked the whole home about the truck saying "WOW TRUCK" and "Bye, Bye truck"! He didn;t even fall asleep he was so excited. I can't wait for the parade next year!

Lucy

Lucy, I never meant to fight with you in such a way that you would just pack your bags and go! I'll miss our middle of the night cuddles and early morning pet sessions. I still make sure you're not at my feet when I get out of bed each morning. I know Josiah was tough on you, but he loved you just a much as the rest of us. You were so good with him, even when you he loved you extra rough. Even Ethel will miss you. I know she loved you much more than you did her, but you did love her in your own way. Rich misses you too. You still have a home should you choose to come back. If not, just know we loved you very much. You were our first baby. I'll never forget how we caught you from Aunt Jack's back yard. We brought you home and you were a wild kitty. So much so that Rich wanted to call animal control. You soon settled down and became our baby kitty. Bye bye kitty...

Happy Halloween
What a great second Halloween we had with our monkey, Josiah. It started with Rich taking a half day so he could bring Josiah to a Halloween party at my office. Joey had such as great time. When the trick or treating began he followed the bigger kids into the first office and laughed as they said "trick or treat" and got their candy. No "trick or treat" for him though. He just kept on laughing and followed them out. He sort of got the hang of it after a while. There were about 14 kids that ranged in age from 3 months to 8 years. We had a crab, shark, flower, skunk, bat, Batman, princess and many more costumes! The kids got pumpkin bags filled with balloons, bubbles and some other treats.

From there we headed to Grandpa Joe's where I let him have 2 bites of a kit kat bar. Of course he loved that! We stayed long enough to have a soda (me) and beer (Rich). Once we left Grandpa Joe we headed over to Abuela Toni's. We had dinner and got to hang with Josiah's cousin Pia. She is 6 months and dressed up as Mickey Mouse. She looked SO cute! Ethan also dropped by with his mommy and daddy. To our surprise both boys were monkeys. They looked super cute together! Joey's Cousin Angelo also made an appearance as a firefighter. What a busy trip to Grandma Toni's!

Once we left Abuela's we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Cook's house. Joey got to see his cousin Aviva. She was dressed up like a princess. She even wore Great Gran's earrings. She looked so pretty. Gran would have loved it! We passed out a bit of candy and then headed for home. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of Vivy; she had a bit of an accident and changed as soon as she got home. She was very upset that she the princess had an accident. We had to remind her even pretty princesses have mishaps!
Just as we pulled into the driveway we saw Jack the Choo Choo, Jess and Jose. They were heading back from trick or treating. They joined us for a little more trick or treating around the neighborhood and them came over for a bit. We let the boys burn off a bit more energy and then we all headed to bed after a long, fun Halloween!

Choo Choo
Josiah is learning so many new words each day. I love coming home and hearing some of the new words he's picked up during the day.
He recently learned what a train is after seeing one in real life. From the moment he saw it he was hooked! That weekend we took him to the Orchard Town Center to ride the choo choo. He is so funny though because he never really smiled. This was serious stuff!

Last weekend we visted a pumpkin patch near our home and they had another choo choo but this time he had to ride alone. I thought he might be scared but again, he was very serious and had lots of fun. We know because he cried when he had to get off of the train.

We are really enjoying our little man. Here he is my favorite Halloween outfit. This was purchased with lots of love by Grandma Sue.

Autumn Fun
Our family headed to Breckenridge the last weekend of September. We were joined by our good family friends, The Licata's. We had a fantastic time!
